What a support coordinator does
A support coordinator helps you understand and use your NDIS plan. They help you work out which supports fit your goals, find and compare providers, set up service agreements and keep things running smoothly. They also help you build the skills and confidence to manage more of this yourself over time, and help you prepare for plan reviews.
The three levels
- Support connection: help to understand your plan and connect with providers, community and mainstream services
- Coordination of supports: help to build and manage a mix of supports and work through issues as they come up
- Specialist support coordination: for people whose situation is more complex and who need extra help to work through barriers
The level you receive depends on what's included in your plan.
How it is funded
Support coordination is funded through the Capacity Building budget, and it has to be included in your NDIS plan. If you think you need support coordination and it isn't in your plan, you can raise it with the NDIA at your next plan reassessment or ask about a review. We work with self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed plans.
Your choice of providers
A good support coordinator puts your choices first. If you choose us for support coordination, you're still free to use any provider for your other supports, and we'll help you compare options fairly, including providers other than Psych Connect. We'll explain clearly whenever we also provide a support you're considering, such as support work or respite.
What to have ready
When you call, it helps to have your NDIS plan nearby, or to know roughly what's in it, along with the names of any providers you already use and anything that isn't working well. Don't worry if you don't have everything. We can start with a conversation about your goals and work through the details together.
Working with us
We keep you, your family and your plan manager in the loop, reply quickly, and write things down in plain language. Our team is based in Springfield Central and works with participants across Ipswich, Brisbane, Logan, Redlands and the Gold Coast. Every Psych Connect support worker holds an NDIS Worker Screening Check, a current First Aid and CPR certificate and has completed the NDIS “Quality, Safety and You” orientation. Workers who support children also hold a Blue Card.
