What support work can include
Support work is practical help with the things you do every day, at the times that suit your routine. It is built around your NDIS goals, so two people's support rarely looks the same. Depending on your plan, a support worker can help with:
- personal care, such as showering, dressing and grooming
- household tasks, like cleaning, laundry and making meals
- shopping, errands and getting to appointments
- building skills so you can do more of these things yourself
- getting out to activities you enjoy (see community access)
How it is funded
Most everyday support work is paid from the Core supports budget in an NDIS plan, often listed as assistance with daily life. Your plan, and the goals in it, set what can be funded. We work with self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed plans, and we'll go through your plan with you on the first call so there are no surprises about costs.
A worker who suits you
Getting on well with your support worker matters as much as the tasks. We ask about your interests, your routine, the language you speak at home and anything that makes support easier for you, then match you with a worker who fits. If the match isn't right, tell us and we'll find someone who suits you better. Every Psych Connect support worker holds an NDIS Worker Screening Check, a current First Aid and CPR certificate and has completed the NDIS “Quality, Safety and You” orientation. Workers who support children also hold a Blue Card.
Where we provide support work
Our team is based in Springfield Central and supports participants across Ipswich and Springfield, Brisbane north and south, Logan, Redlands and the Gold Coast. Most support happens in your home and out in your community. See the areas we cover for what to expect in each region, or NDIS support on the Gold Coast.
Getting started
Send the short form on this page or call 0403 828 422. A local team member will call you back the same business day (enquiries after hours or on weekends: next business day). On that call we talk through your goals, your plan and the help you're looking for, then arrange a time to meet.
